Hull Wyke warmed up for a game at the KC stadium on Friday (We will be playing Myton Warrior’s at half time after an invitation from Hull FC via The Fanbassador scheme) with a hard fought game against a well drilled West Hull side.
Before the game, the game plan was all about tight defence and being expansive with the ball when in possession, but unfortunately just before the game the heavens opened and we had to play a forwards game in attack.
The game started with the first of James Farrar’s 3 tries, a great run when he saw a gap open up in the West Hull defence. The platform was set by forwards Jay Kirby, Elliot Johnson and Jack Lawler who ran at the West Hull line all night long.
Half way through the first half Lennon Clark started to show his dominance and cracked the line for the first of his 2 tries.
The line speed and tackling of our outside backs Sebastien Hawtree, Jacob Hill, Joseph Wood and Jamie Whiting were for the coach’s one of the biggest plus points of the game.
Into the second half the weather dried up and our pivot Ben Johnson started to put his mark on controlling the game which was capped with a try.
We could then start to play a bit of rugby off the forward runs of Liam Wilkinson, Leo Madsen and Finlay Rebera.
Our dummy halves Ashton Booth and Dylan Yeaman fuel the attack and are passing the ball on the advantage line allowing our forwards to make as much ground as possible.
The game finished with a fantastic try by William Kirby, which must have been a 50 metre run but if you asked him this morning I bet he has stretched that to 100 metres.
Well done boys all coaches are very proud of you keep it up.
Man of the Match: Lennie Clark
Great effort: Joe Wood
