Continuing on from the previous week Wyke under 12s with yet another tough assignment showed the benefit that such a run of games can bring with a gutsy performance against West Hull.
In a tight encounter with only one try apiece both coming in the second half it was Wyke who struck first with a try from captain James Driver playing at centre with the conversion coming from the reliable boot of Jack Cone.
Wests tested Kieran Broom with high balls early but the fullback was equal to the challenge and made some good carries.
For a game where both defences were on top the entertainment value was definitely there and on the occasions when Wyke did move the ball. They showed how capable they can be.
Improved work rate from Oliver Gillespie and Keelan Mitchell, who returned to the back row helped the Wyke cause.Jack Addison also impressed in the back row.
With only a minute left to play Wyke who had done enough or so they thought, failed to make touch from a penalty on their own line. Wests pounced on the gift and scored out wide.
A superb touchline conversion from the wests goal kicker snatched a dramatic draw and the learning curve for Wyke goes on.
Well played both teams.
