Hull Wyke under 12s went into this match at St Richards with a point to prove, mainly to themselves, that they could play with composure and discipline and for large parts of this game they did just that with some dominant running and good use of the ball.
On a baking hot morning the game got under way and East's with two quick fire tries went 12-0 up. This score did not reflect how well Wyke were playing in first half.
The Wyke boys kept to their task and after missing out on couple of good scoring chances were rewarded with a try on half time from Captain James Driver.
HT 12 - 4.
The second half was even more entertaining than the first with both teams crossing for three tries. Easts must of thought they had the game won twice. Only for Wyke to come storming back with tries from Jack Addison who powered his way over for two tries with aggressive running. This was on the back of good work from Finlay Johnson and Jack Cone who converted the second.
Wyke now raided down Easts left side and a great pass, which would of put the Wyke attacker in the clear just could not be handled.
From the position East's made Wyke pay, by taking the score out to 28- 14.To their credit Wyke kept working and pushed Easts all the way when Driver went over for his second and Kieran Broom converted it was game on but with only minutes to go, time was against Wyke who went down to yet another narrow defeat.
FT 28- 20.
Well played both teams and a very encouraging effort from Wyke who played some good Rugby at times.
