Hull Wyke under 12s won Their only pre season friendly at Skirlaugh on Sunday morning with a morale boosting victory that will hopefully set the tone for the season.
With three new additions to the forward pack and a big emphasis on making better use of the ball during the off season, Wyke looked dominant up front from the kick off.
Against what has to be said a very good, well drilled Bulls side, Wyke looked composed and ready from the start with Brandon Sargerson and Matthew Thomas having a massive impact on the game.
That said the game was still a tight affair and it was Skirlaugh who took the lead for a half time score line of 4 points to 0.
The second half started with Skirlaugh almost scoring after wyke had knocked on in their own twenty, and from the scrum the Bulls worked the ball down the blind side with only a Josh Plummer tackle preventing the home side extending their lead.
A big Charge downfield from new boy Adam Boyd got Wyke on the front foot and the away side started to break the Bulls line with regularity which led to Matthew Thomas going in at the corner with Jack Addison unlucky not to add the extras with his attempt from touch.
There was still plenty in it for home side too who worked the ball about well and were unlucky on couple of occasions before another Wyke break led to some neat handling and Jack Cone went steaming away to score from thirty metres out.(NEXT TIME JACK, UNDER THE POSTS PLEASE!)
With the conversion again missed the final whistle sounded the end of a very entertaining game that had The Wyke coaches including John 'Lord Lucan' Phillpson smiling from ear to ear!
Well played both teams.
