Wyke started off the match with a drive towards the Tigers line. However, they were met by a well organised defence, and did not gain much ground, which set the pattern for the match.
Although all the Wyke’s lads continually ran hard at the opposing line, they could not often breach the defensive line nor find the gaps for many of their drives in the match.
Also, the Cottingham team were a big strong unit, who had many experienced and skilled players in attack, for this age group.
However, none of the Wyke’s team heads dropped and they put up an excellent fight throughout the match.
Wyke’s only score in the first half came from a nippy run to the line by Robbie, following an excellent weaving run from Nathan.
Half Time – Wyke 1 -4 Cottingham Tigers
The second half followed a similar pattern to the 1st. However Wyke managed to score three more tries in the second half from Billy (2) and Reagan, following excellent drives up the field from the whole team.
All the team gave there utmost in the match with excellent defensive tackles from Sam, William, Liam, Niam and Morgan, but unfortunately Wyke’s attack could just not get going in this match, but this was largely due to the Tigers well drilled defence.
Full Time – Wyke 4 – 10 Cottingham Tigers
