Team: Morgan Taft, Nathan Belcher, Billy Fenby, Samuel Lawson, William Kynman, Robbie Bales
Things didn’t bode well as the game began with wet conditions, and only 6 of our young players available to play (we had to borrow a player from Vikings which was appreciated).
However Hull Wyke U7’s soon got going with a great team effort as the ball passed from Billy to William to Morgan, who stormed over for the first try of the match.
The first half continued and saw brave running from Robbie and Samuel, and William’s trademark dodging. The tries flowed with a further one from Morgan, plus two from Nathan and four from Billy.
Our defence was good, with some tackling on our line and we managed to get the opposition into touch a few times. However Vikings managed to get 3 past us and the scoreline at half time was 6 points to 3 in favour of Hull Wyke.
Vikings took the ball as the match re-commenced, with quick tackling from Samuel, Robbie and William not quite able to prevent a try. Billy answered straight away with a full length run to score again.
As this half continued our boys started to tire, the ball got slipperier and Vikings made some good breaks and picked up a few more points. However we kept up and continued to score with a try from Samuel, 3 more from Billy and a final try from Nathan.
The final score was 11 points to 8 to Hull Wyke.
Hull Wyke’s Man of the Match was Robbie Bales for a good all round performance.
