Hull Wyke under 9s started their second game at their new home having to make a few changes as Cottingham had 8 players. So Wyke played two teams of 8 each playing half a game with the game split into quarters.
Wyke started the game defending and good tackling from Ashton Booth and Finn chapman held out Cottingham. Wyke then got their hands on the ball and straight away started to play rugby a big drive from Jack Lawler set up ben Johnson to score after a little dummy. Wyke then attacked again with big drives from Lennie Clark and Jack Horsfield. Who made big yards to allow James Farrar to score. Wyke then changed teams and carried on from where they left off, the hard yards were done by Elliot Johnson and Rryan Hall. Then will Kirby made a break to score from 30 metres, then Issac Craven and Rhys Vine made some good yards to make good field position. Ryan Hall then scored off a good set play. A well drilled Cottingham then got a foothold in the game and were stopped just short a few times with great tackling from Seb Hawtree and Dylan Yeaman.
Then after half time the first eight came back on and scored quick tries from Jack Horsfield and Jacob hill. They continued to make good ground and scored another 2 quick tries from Jacob and Lennie. After a quick turnaround the next 8 carried on the good work lead by Seb Hawtree who was all over the park, and Elliot Johnson who volunteered to go to dummy half. Great forward work from Joe Wood and Dylan, Allowed Ryan Hall go in for another try. The Tigers played well in the heat against a team that had the luxury of swapping all 8 players with fresh legs. Well done boys.
A special mention must go to Jay Kirby who turned up but couldn’t play due to illness, well done Jay. Lastly good luck to Jacob Hill who is having an operation on Wednesday. We will miss you while you’re out and a great game to end on getting parents man of the match.
