Hull Wyke v Hull Dockers under 9’s 27/5/15

Hull Wyke under 9s played their first game at our new temporary ground after work started at Cropton road. After a day of sunshine the heavens opened as soon as we arrived at the ground which changed our game plan slightly.

The game started with Dockers starting and good tackling from Jack Lawler and Jay Kirby Stopped them from making a lot of ground. A quick attacking set later with drives from Elliot Johnson and Fin Chapman Wyke had scored with a quick sleight of hand from Ben Johnson to the short side to put James Farrar over for a try. Good tackling again from the 2 defending winger’s Seb Hawtree and Jacob Hill who didn’t let anything go round them all night gave Hull Wyke the ball back. Allowing Ryan Hall and Dylan Yeaman to make yards up the field so Jack Lawler could make a break and get over the white line.

The second half saw the rain get even harder but the boys did not that let them bother them. Three quick tries followed the break for James Farrar, 2 set up by Ben Johnson. Hull Wyke continued to make good yards which was greatly helped by good passing from dummy half Seb Hawtree. Will Kirby caused trouble bending the line every time he touched the ball which was rewarded with two tries. Wkye then made some subs and put on Jack Horsfield and Isaac Craven who put in some good stints. The game was then coming to an end but not without Ryan Hall and Ashton Booth doing some big hits in the tackle and Elliot Johnson and Ryan again going in for tries.

Well done again boys, you controlled the game well in difficult conditions and our move to the new ground proved a success.
