We talked pre game about our defence and all coaches were happy with the defensive performance shown today.
The game started positively for Easts with some good drives in the first set but good tackles from Jack Lawler and Finley Chapman held them out. Then some good drives up the field from Joe Wood and Jay Kirby, set up Lennie Clark for a great try. Next for Wyke were 3 good drives from Elliot Johnson, Ryan Hall, and Seb Hawtree who got good field position for Will Kirby to take advantage and score. The next try was off a quick set and finished with ball through hands from left to right Ashton Booth, Ben Johnson, Will Kirby to Elliot Johnson to go in the corner. James Farrar then scored the first of 2 long range try’s in a man of the match performance well deserved with a fantastic cut out pass to Jacob Hill to score in the corner. Jack Lawler shrugged off would be tacklers with a good show of strength as he drove up field to gain good position just before the break.
The second half started the same with Wyke defending with great enthusiasm from Seb Hawtree whose tackling is getting better every time he plays. The attacking play continued after a big break from Jay Kirby who made some massive meters and was rewarded with parents MotM. With quick try’s from Will and 2 from Ben Wyke finished off in style with an Ashton Booth try who supported a Ben Johnson break. A special mention this week to Ryan Hall whose attitude was great and led the tackling all game. Special Thanks to Isaac Cravan, Jack Horsfield and Kenzie Stansfield for support and water barers.
