Another great win for Hull Wyke Under 9’s.
Dockers took the first drive of the match and were met by a HW defensive wall, with great tackles coming from James and Robbie, which set the tone for the match. Dockers in their next runs tried to break through the line but the HW defence was again solid.
Then it was HW’s turn to have the ball and where soon on the scoresheet, with Charlie opening up his account for the night with a fine try.
Then Dockers got the ball and following some strong runs scored a nice try.
This seemed to urge on the HW lads and they were soon on the attack, and following great side steps by Sam L the ball came to Billy R, but unfortunately he couldn’t make it over the line, but everyone could see that the lads were playing well.
Dockers then where kept out again with good tackles by a resolute HW defence and in particular Bobby, Morgan, and Will S who was shoring up his wing.
HW then drove down the pitch following a fine weaving run by Regan, who off loaded onto Finley and then the ball found its way to Charlie who went over again for a great team try.
Dockers were now having no joy whatsoever as the HW defence was watertight , with great tackles from Kieron, Liam and Thomas which frustrated the Dockers team and in so doing forced them into making errors.
HW again went over for a try following a great run by Billy F.
Then HW scored once more, this time Owen went on a mazy run and carved through the Dockers defence and went over for a brilliant solo try with a great celebration as well.
The second half started and HW went into overdrive, running in try after try.
First Sam L went over for great forwards try, then Charlie got this hat-trick try, then Billy F got another. Sam L then got another following a great off load from Charlie with Sam showing great hands to catch the ball from his toes. Sam at this time was also tackling like a machine was putting down anyone who had the misfortune to come his way.
There was no stopping us now with Billy F going in for his hat-tick try, and then Owen made it a double for him on the night with another great run which split the Dockers defence apart.
HW were now overwhelmingly on top and then Will K came up with one of the moments of the match when he put in a massive hit on the Dockers slippery winger, which not only forced back the player 10m from where the initial tackle was made, but he also dumped him into touch as well so that HW got the ball back – a fantastic effort, which typified HW’s defence on the night.
This then set up more tries for HW with Kieron bagging a double and then Bobby got on the score sheet as well towards the end of the match.
Dockers got a consolation try in the 2nd half but HW dominated the match and were worthy winners.
Another great team effort, with all the lads putting in a good shift, and making a contribution to a well deserved victory.
