Covid 19 Update

Club announcement

Following recent Government guidelines and the subsequent RFL rulings regarding “small group non- contact activity” we held an emergency committee meeting to decide how we will approach and implement these directives at Hull Wyke to ensure that all our players, volunteers and members remain safe and as well as absolutely possible.

As there can be no training, and because there is no current understanding of when contact activity will commence, we have decided that we will not authorise any official training sessions for any teams until further notice. We do not believe we can guarantee that we can manage the strict criteria of social distancing, risk assessments, registrations and pre-session plans, sanitisation of equipment, players and coaches and other criteria to a level we feel is acceptable.

However looking ahead, we are currently working with our u14s squad to trial, monitor and manage small group activities of 6 people, 5 players and a coach. Groups will not mix nor interchange and will keep social distances. The team manager, coaches and first aiders will produce risk assessments beforehand that will be reviewed by the club management. Players and volunteers will register at the beginning of a session of 40 minutes of non-contact activity. All training areas will be clearly identified and signage will be in place reminding individuals of their responsibilities. Parents will be expected to keep their distance from the players and from each other as per Government guidelines.

We have already seen images where another sport clearly breaches the guidelines, either through lack of understanding or misinterpretation. We are also pleased that the majority of the RFL community are adhering to and following the same path as we are.

If, and when we are satisfied that we can increase the number of teams allowed to participate in the same activities we will invite them to do so, bearing in mind that if teams do not feel it is right for them we totally accept and respect their decision.

We would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding throughout our shutdown, we hope you keep safe and well and look forward to the next stage.

Further updates will follow.
